Celebrating Over 50 Years of Service - 1957-2011
The primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to foster the spirit of patriotism by promoting responsible citizenship and a love of and loyalty to our country through active membership in local Fourth Degree Assemblies. Certain members of our assembly serve as honor guards at civic and religious functions, an activity that has brought worldwide recognition to the Knights of Columbus.
History of the Bishop Frederic Baraga Assembly
From 1918-1928 (or 1929) there was an assembly in Muskegon under Muskegon Assembly # 706. In the early days of the Fourth Degree, members formed an assembly at the council taking the name and number of the council. In the 1948-1949 Directory, Muskegon Assembly 706 was now listed as Dan M. Kennedy Assembly 706. This continued until the 1957-1958 Directory when the name was changed to Bishop Frederic Baraga General Assembly. In 1972 all of the Assemblies were renumbered and it became Bishop Frederic Baraga Assembly 0474.

O God and Father, give us the strength to accept our illness and if it is in your plan, may we be restored to health so as to serve you in holiness and wholeness. If not, give us the understanding to accept this cross, the humility to accept the help of others and the grace to see your purpose in all the events of our lives. Amen.
Lord, keep our servicemen and women safe, whether they serve at home or over seas. Hold them in Your loving hands and protect them as they protect us." Let's all keep those currently serving and those who have gone before, in our thoughts. They are the reason for the many freedoms we enjoy. "In God We Trust"
