January 2020 Newsletter

Thursday, January 9, 2020, 7:00 PM

Fellow Brothers,

Happy New Year to all and may God bless you in 2020. We have a few events coming up for the new year. Please check out the Building Association news and please look into helping out on the Lenten Fish Fries.

The following note was from the Supreme Office and thought it was some very good information to share, especially since it is the time of year our membership billing is sent out. As some of you know, our dues not only help fund some of our Council Charity activities, but a portion goes to the State and Supreme Councils. When we combine that with Brothers throughout the state and the world, we can make a huge difference.

“Thanks to Knights, our dues and donors, hundreds of families in the Middle East who have faced genocide at the hands of ISIS will once again celebrate Christmas in their own homes.

With your support, the Knights of Columbus has committed more than $25 million since 2014 to helping those affected, giving — among other things — food and educational programs, medical clinics, and reconstruction of the town of Karamles, which was previously destroyed by the terrorist group. This is one of the ways a portion of our dues help worldwide.

If you haven’t donated yet, use this link http://www.kofc.org/en/charities/christian-relief/index.html (you can copy this into your browser) for the Knights of Columbus Christian Refugee Relief fund to bring humanitarian aid to persecuted religious minorities in the Middle East.”

From the Editor's Desk:

Brothers,

A note from Supreme:

“Almost everyone knows the Knights of Columbus as an organization. Many people even know members. But, too often, they don’t know what we really do.

They don’t know about the thousands of wheelchairs Knights give away, or the K of C-sponsored ultrasound machines. They don’t know that Knights are helping save Christianity in Iraq, or giving coats to children internationally. They don’t know the countless ways you, your council, your brother Knights and your family join together in doing good for others.”

People need to hear our story. And the success of sharing these stories starts with you, right now. .

Vivat Jesus,
Denny Chandonet

Joke of the Month

Air Travel

Mrs. Chapman spotted a weight machine as she was walking through the airport. She was curious about the machine, so she deposited a quarter and stepped onto it. A computerized voice stated, "You are five feet, six inches tall, weigh 160 pounds, and you are taking a plane to London."

She was impressed with the accuracy of the machine and decided to try it again. "You are five feet, six inches tall, weigh 160 pounds, and you are taking a plane to London," said the voice.

Mrs. Chapman wanted to try once more, but this time she decided to fool it. She went into the ladies' room, changed her sweater, and put on a hat. She returned and dropped another quarter into the slot.

The voice came again, "You are five feet, six inches tall, weigh 160 pounds," and added, "and while you were in the ladies' room, you missed the plane to London."
