October 2019 Newsletter
Council Meeting Thursday, October 10, 2019, 7:00 PM
I would like to thank Chad Earnest, Steve Tejchma and all those responsible for the great job with making the outdoor seating area so nice. Please come done and sit outside while you still can, Fall is a great time to enjoy the Michigan sunshine. We need to soak up as much vitamin D before the sun disappears for winter.
The Knights of Columbus was able to give checks to The ARC of Muskegon and Wesley School. The money was generated through the MI Tootsie Roll Drive done at Easter time. These are two important charities worth supporting. The ARC of Muskegon helps adults with certain needs manage their lives so that they can live independently. Wesley School helps developmental needs children to function with a quality of life they would not otherwise have.
The Knights sponsored the MCC 5th-7th grade classes trip to the Lumberjacks game last month, which helps to promote learning awareness in the community.
On October 24th Muskegon Right to Life will be having its annual benefit dinner ‘Focus on Life’ at the Delta Hotel in downtown Muskegon. Doors will open at 6 pm with the dinner and special guest speaker Genevieve Marnon, Legislative Director for Right to Life of Michigan, to start at 6:30 pm.
There will be a Fourth Degree Exemplification at St. Patrick’s Church 920 Fulton Street in Grand Haven on October 25th. The event starts at 5 pm with registration and will run until 10:15 pm with hospitality until midnight. They have changed the dress code to a dark suit instead of a tuxedo. This is a great opportunity to become a 4th-degree member and not have to travel far to do it.
I hope all Brother Knights and their families are doing well, but for those that are going through tough times please pray for them. See the members in need on the website and keep them in your prayers.
If anybody would like to get more involved with events, please don’t hesitate to contact me or another member. We have many opportunities to serve this great Muskegon community.

The Christopher Columbus Building Association board has updated the By-Laws for the organization. This hasn’t been done for quite some time, we needed the update them to fit as a separate organization per The Supreme Council. We had a local attorney work with us on these, Chris Kelly, and he will be at our October 14th meeting at 6:30 at the hall to answer any questions about the legality issues. Please attend if you have any questions.
Please see the online Calendar of events at www.kc706.com for all the events. Speaking of the Events calendar, we are in need of someone to maintain our calendars. Not only the Events calendar but the bartender calendar too. If you can help out with this please contact me or Steve Tejchma.
Building Association President,
Joke of the Month
Some great puns for you this month,
Two vultures board an airplane, each carrying two dead raccoons. The stewardess looks at them and says, "I'm sorry, gentlemen, only one carrion allowed per passenger."
Did you hear about the Buddhist who refused Novocain during a root canal? He wanted to transcend dental medication.
A group of chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel and were standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories. After about an hour, the manager came out of the office and asked them to disperse. 'But why?" they asked, as they moved off. "Because", he said, "I can't stand chess nuts boasting in an open foyer."
A woman has twins and gives them up for adoption One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named "Ahmal." The other goes to a family in Spain; they name him "Juan." Years later, Juan sends a picture of himself to his birth mother. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wishes she also had a picture of Ahmal. Her husband responds, "They're twins! If you've seen Juan, you've seen Ahmal."
I saved the best until last…
Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him ...(Oh, man, this is so bad, it's good)... A super calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.
