Brother Knights of #706,
I officially become Grand Knight on July 1. If after meeting any of you I forget your name please forgive me as God did not give me the gift of remembering names. I do remember faces well and mean no disrespect to you if I do forget your name. The first Thursday of the month from 3 to 6 is my time to bartend. If you have ideas for our Council call me or email me or find me around the club.
Our June meeting was information only as we had less than a quorum. I met with the Executive Director of Love, INC (Love in the Name of Christ). We discussed ways the Knights might help them out. Love, INC is a Christian non-denominational charity that brokers help among various charities in our local community. One of their immediate needs is building wheelchair ramps at the homes for disabled people. It takes a crew of about 6 people to build a ramp. This can be done on a Saturday or weekday. It can be done in one full day. All plans to build the ramp are provided and pre-approved. Contact Tammy Woodring to volunteer. 231-773-3448 X 231 or email@example.com
Our beer tent planning is on track. The beer tent is on July 28 this year from 3 to 11 pm. Look for the banner over the building entrance. Angel from Kid's Food Basket will be at the beer tent. She will be wearing a Kid's Food Basket T-shirt. Talk to her if you have any questions about this worthy charity. We hope to help out the KFB and possibly other Muskegon area charities.
I am now an Ambassador for Kids Food Basket. I can officially speak on their behalf. One item coming up for the Kid's Food Basket on September 9 is:

This is a fundraiser for all three locations, but 60% will come back to Muskegon. You can find details at this link: http://www.chefprizemichigan.com/home. More Kid's Food Basket news: The Muskegon location is in need of drivers for the summer to deliver sack suppers. Tuesdays 12:45, 2:15 and 2:40 P.M. Only a maximum 1 hour commitment, probably less.
We held a first degree ceremony for five new members. The new members are:
Warren Bogner, Stephen Hoffman, Wayne Degner, Chuck Beckman and Zachary Tilden. Welcome our new brothers if you see them to help them feel at home.
We exceeded our goal of 29 for the fiscal year (July/2017 – July/2018). Well done brothers! Let’s keep the new members coming in. There are always applications at the entrance table.
Our July council meeting will be Installation of new Officers for 2018-2019 fiscal year. This is a nice short event, wives and family are invited. There will be a dinner to follow.

Add these dates to your home calendar and try to arrive about 20 minutes early to Mass. It won’t hurt you to be a little early. Also, we need help handing out bulletins, taking the offertory basket to the vault and straightening up the pews at the end of mass.

Kids Food Basket News:
Beginning Tuesday, July 10, the Knights of Columbus #706 has been assigned a regular day of the week for volunteering at the Kids Food Basket. Every Tuesday, for one hour, 10:45-11:45 a.m., we will serve. If you could get a team of four together, perhaps you might like to sign up for one Tuesday a month. Sign up sheets are on the bulletin board in the lobby of the club. Any questions, please contact Barb Langlois 231-740-5998 or Sandi Gowin 231-730-6955. Thank you for supporting this wonderful organization.
Stephanie stopped us to say how grateful they were to the K of C's for the check that was given to Angel on Saturday at the Appreciation Dinner. She commented that Angel and her spouse had a great time. And they are so pleased to have us among their volunteer family.

Denny was correct. He predicted a great Steak Fry for June 22nd in last month’s bulletin and he was right. It was awesome. Your continued participation in events like this…Makes Things Happen at the Knights #706!

Thursday morning golf is underway. We meet at Eagle Island Golf Course at 9:00 am. Come out and join us. You don’t have to be a great golfer to join this group, just have some fun.
If you are NOT getting emails from the council, we need your email address. Please contact John Schneller (number above) or myself at (231) 670-3469 to get on the email list. We do print a few copies and have them at the hall, although the preferred method is electronic. Plus it saves us money.
